Summer Giveaway 1 of 4

After that major organizing/cleaning/de-stashing I did on Monday I have decided to hold a giveaway. I though "what is the easiest way to get rid of all the crafting "junk" that I have?"... I will be holding 4 giveaways, spread out over the summer. Each de-stash will be stuffed into a prepaid box and shipped to the lucky winner.

The first Box to go out will be  this lovely full of scrappy scraps. Just a bunch of random stuff (if you win and don't like what you got I will not be offended if you toss it out or re-giveaway it. I just can't stand to toss stuff out if there is even a chance it could be used. But you can!).

I will also probably be adding to the box up until it goes out

To enter to win all you have to do is comment with a link with your favorite fabric/line/designer. That's it!

Modern Mini Challenge Entry

For my entry I decided to use this Mini Quilt that I made for my partner back in April for the Mini QT Swap. It took me the whole 2 months to finally get around to making it since my partner got switched out 3 times!

DSCN1506m

The dress form part is from the sewing studio block pattern By Charise Creates. I got lazy (and I was running out of time) and decided to not do the other half and to just make a design wall with quilt blocks on it instead.

Quilt Stats:Measures: 12" x 12"
Pattern: Sewing Studio Block by Charise Creates/ and my own design added on
Fabric: random scraps I had in my stash, including some vintage orangs pok-a-dot
Binding: From a Joann jelly roll (no idea what the line is though)
Quilting: Machine quilted on domestic machine by myself. I also hand stitched the word "SEW"
Well that's it! Thanks for stopping by!

What I did yesterday: An Organizing Story

As I was laying in bed Saturday A though came to me. "It would be much easier for crafting if I moved all my craft stuff to the storage space on the balcony rather have it be in the outside storage." Now that was a task. I am the kind of girl who when starting a project I like to get it done in one go, no multiple-day projects for me. So with that I was determined to start on Monday and finish it before Hubby came home from work.

The first thing I had to do was empty out the balcony storage (BS) and sweep. Once that was done I brought in all the boxes from the outside storage (OS), oh and here is the kicker, I just had to reorganize and condense the contents of my stash (everything). I ended up de-stashing these items. Keep an eye out for a giveaway in the future.

My WIPs tote needed to be reorganized as well. I separated and condensed (sounds contradictive, I know) the WIPs into these categories:

Planning on completing this week:

 This month:

Soon enough:

And have no intention of looking at again until I reorganize again or run out of WIPs (HA like that will happen!):
 DSCN1789

After that was done I moved everything into the BS, stacked all nicely with most used boxes on top, etc.
DSCN1775

Not all the craftiness made it into the BS. My candle-making supplies are still out (and slightly melted, but that is okay since it will all be melted down again).
DSCN1776

And the jewelry making stuff wont fit in either (don't worry, the tub on top is empty).
DSCN1777

The next task was to clear off the balcony. That was a project all on its own.
DSCN1778

I took the boxes that could be moved to the OS and started shifting the ones left out so I could sweep the balcony. This space was soooooo dirty. We never go out there, even though it is a nice space, because there was no space because of the boxes. There was a fine (and by fine I mean thick) layer of pollen on EVERYTHING. I had to "sweep" the boxes off so they were clean enough to take through the apartment to the OS.

Just look at the difference!

Baby want's to come out and help!

After sorting through the rest of the totes I ended up with this (after shredding 3 trash bags worth of old papers):

Surprise! Hubby still has some unsorted junk from his bachelor days. You know how it is, men, this is how he would pack when he was deployed (gone to storage) or moved somewhere else: shove everything into totes, not sorting/organization needed. I did what I could to these but the rest is up to him to sort out.
DSCN1788

I emptied out this huge tote and condensed his junk from 3 totes to the 2 you see above.

Here is my reward for all that hard work: SPACE!

And the OS: The empty totes will go in that empty space you see there.

Thanks for stopping by!

May Extras :)

It feels like summer!

Here are some of the projects I also did in addition to the Lovely Year of Finishes project list.

A fun summer sun dress for no particular little girl. One size fits all Infant-12 yrs. old (as a top):

DSCN1681

Started the deconstruction of an older sundress. I had taken off the cap sleeves since they were angled weird and made it too tight to wear comfortably, and removed the belt loop. I have not decided on if I am going to keep it as a sun dress of eventually turn it into a skirt. I love the fabric though.

Dress upcycle

This is a doll I was commissioned to make for a little girl at church in exchange for a 45min massage from her mom (professional). It was well worth it :) And the doll looks like the little girl.

Emmy Doll

These are the Thing 1 and Thing 2 hats I made for the Soucek Twins, a boy and a girl. I also have quilts I am making for them.

Quilt1 for the girl baby.

A matching hat to go with the rainbow dress for my cousin's baby, Nakita. Born last week I believe :)

Another commission for the same baby. A diaper cover. Love the ruffles!

You can not really see in this photo, but I had crochet some lovely black lace trim. (I will be adding it to the traveling stash that I won this month. Look for the giveaway post!)

DSCN1650

Some free time embroidery. Loving the colors!

 DSCN1531

Another Pisinka workshop. My hubby made the orange/red/brown/black one. I am so proud of him!

I was bored one night and stitched up this number. The yarn I used is Mountain Heather - Deborah Norville Collection Serenity Garden Yarn (at joann's). Let me tell you, this was so comfortable to weas, the yarn is so sift! I am thinking about making sleeping shorts out of this yarn. (BTW: I made up this pattern, if anyone wants it I will be happy to write it up for you.)

And a sun dress! I could not decide if I wanted to make a dress or a skirt. I figured that I could always convert it later if I want to:

Here are the 31"x31" (give or take) table topper cloths I also made for the wedding I did the dresses for. I just LOVE the fabric! I hope she lets me keep the scraps!

These are some random items I made earlier in the year but forgot to blog about:

An attachment or a dish towel so it can hang from the oven handle.

DSCN9474

Some crochet roses. I am thinking of attaching them to headbands.

DSCN1398
